A day in the life of a camper

Day camp will be a combination of structured and unstructured activities.

After check-in, the group will start with a physical activity, such as soccer, basketball, a relay or outdoor time.
From there the group will transition to daily programming activities, such as Skills and Thrills. This will be an opportunity for Campers to learn some neat stuff in their choice of skill area. Who knew it was possible to have fun and learn something at the same time? Campers can take their pick of drama, sports, arts, dance, cooking, camping skills and more.
Need to re-energize after Skills and Thrills? All Campers will be encouraged to eat a healthy snack mid-morning (one will be provided if needed). Then we’ll transition into Camper’s Choice, where they can grab a comic book and read, shoot some hoops or take part in arts and crafts. These are just a few of the many great options that will be available to all Campers. Then we’ll head outside for some Sun & Fun.
By now, Campers are hungry for lunch! Together, we’ll gather around the table or set up outside for a picnic lunch. After everyone is full from a healthy, nutritious lunch, there will be an afternoon jam-packed of fun, including activities with all Campers. The whole camp is in on these games. What will it be today? Capture the Flag, Animal Safari, a challenging relay or BGC Ottawa Olympics, soccer, basketball or an exciting out trip?
Structured programming will end at 3 p.m. and then each camper can choose how they want to wrap up their day. The activities are endless until their parents, or an adult, pick them up – the choice is theirs!

Four Pillars of Programming

At BGC Ottawa, programs are guided by our Four Pillars of Programming, which include Education, Creative Arts, Leadership & Social Skills and Physical Education & Healthy Lifestyle. These pillars are comprehensive and encapsulate the overarching goal of social skills development to build strong and productive community members.

It is these pillars that will guide weekly programming throughout all day camps. From cooking programs to team building to sports of all sorts, BGC Ottawa day camps will run a full complement of weekly activities, including fun-filled out trips.
