BGC Ottawa set to host sold out Seaside Soirée GlampingGala

Club’s signature event approaching record-breaking fundraising total

Monday, Aug.26 (OTTAWA) – BGC Ottawa (previously known as the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa) is set to host its Seaside Soirée Glamping Gala on Thursday, Aug. 29, at 6 p.m. The sold-out event will take place on the “Great Lawn” of the Tomlinson Family Foundation Clubhouse (1463 Prince of Wales Drive), adjacent to the Rideau Canoe Club.

BGC Ottawa’s signature summertime event is not the typical gala experience that many guests are accustomed to. This Thursday, more than 500 of the Club’s greatest supporters will be swept away to a captivating ocean oasis of fun with friends old and new. The evening will be filled with coastal-inspired cuisine, cocktails that taste like paradise, and the chance to make a difference in the lives of thousands of children and youth who depend on BGC Ottawa to set them on a path of success and fulfilment.

“The Glamping Gala has transformed into the summer’s most anticipated event, drawing in a vibrant mix of local businesses, organizations and Ottawa’s leading philanthropists,” said Michelle Taggart, BGC Ottawa Board Member and Event Co-Chair. “With the extraordinary support of our incredible sponsors and partners, we’re not just poised to meet our ambitious $500,000 fundraising goal– we’re set to break records. The generosity of so many will have a direct, life-changing impact on children and youth across the 31 neighbourhoods BGC Ottawa serves.”

In addition to the unique food and beverage experience the event is known for, guests can expect fun-filled experiences from the moment they arrive. A live sketch artist returns to paint stunning watercolour portraits of guests, a florist will create beautiful flower bouquets to take-home, and a magician is sure to make the night unforgettable with highly interactive magic tricks. The Gala Committee is also saving a few surprises that are sure to impress all attendees.

The Glamping Gala is one of two marquee fundraising events that the Club hosts each year. Funds raised at the Seaside Soirée Glamping Gala will provide programming directly to children and youth in vulnerable neighbourhoods throughout the city, with the hopes of reopening Clubhouse doors on Saturdays, with Clubs offering programs and activities that are most needed by its Members.

“The need for free community-based services and life-changing programs is at an all-time high,”said Adam Joiner, BGC Ottawa’s Chief Executive Officer. “We are seeing more kids this year than we ever have in the history of the Club, with an unprecedented level of engagement. Every kid, regardless of their background or circumstances, deserves the opportunity to learn, grow and become their best selves. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, partners, donors and friends, this unique event helps support the Club’s greatest needs, while guests get to enjoy a fun-filled evening along the shores of the Rideau River.”

The Seaside Soirée Glamping Gala is now sold out, however, business and philanthropic leaders,Club alumni, friends and those looking to make an impact on countless children and youth throughout Ottawa can still provide a charitable gift by visiting www.bgcottawa.org/donate.
