In-person return of the Morning Social

The last two years were tough. The pandemic took an emotional, social, and developmental toll on children and youth across Ottawa. Despite the health crisis, BGC Ottawa remained a helpful and adaptable resource for families in 19 neighbourhoods.

The health crisis left BGC Ottawa in less than desirable financial shape. The Club had to cancel all fundraising events except one in 2020 and 2021, the Morning Social , previously known as the BGCO Breakfast had to go virtual. The mostly virtual event went on to raise one million dollars, both years. Community heroes came together from across the city to allow thousands and children to thrive during these unprecedented times.

On Thursday, September 8th, at 7:00 A.M. BGC Ottawa will host the long-awaited return to the in-person breakfast—the Morning Social. This year’s theme is Everyday Heroes.

Almost 400 guests will gather together at the new COVID-designed Taggart Parkes Family Clubhouse, that opened earlier this year in the south of Ottawa.

The event will be hosted by Jock Climie, Lawyer, former CFL player, and former sportscaster, and BGC Ottawa Board Member as well as and Katie Hession, one of Ottawa’s top content creators, and loyal supporter of the Club.

The live and curated program and simultaneous online broadcast will entertain you, featuring BGC Ottawa’s competitive basketball team, the BGC Thunderbolts, local sport heroes, and inspiring stories from kids in our city whose lives were changed by the Club.

In addition, the program will spotlight community groups, business and philanthropic leaders in our city who help transform thousands of young lives.

The Morning Social is backed by local community and business leaders, entrepreneurs, political leaders, and honorary guests from our city, either viewing from the new Taggart Parkes Family Clubhouse, the comfort of home.

BGC Ottawa needs to raise one Million dollars by the end of this year to keep providing FREE life-changing programs and access to opportunities for thousands of children and youth. They need your help.

Please consider donating in a way that is meaningful to you. You can donate online or watch via the YouTube channel.
